By default remote connecion to MSDE engine is disabled. You should enable network connections on MSDE to connect remotely.
Follow the steps below;
1) Start --> Run --> svrnetcn (This command Launchs SQL Server Network utility)
Choose TCP/IP connections click --> Enable
Click Apply -> OK
And Restart SQL Server service.
MSDE starts to listen requests from TCP 1433
